The selectors had named a 15-member squad for only the first two Tests on October 1 as they wanted to review the performance of the players before picking the team for the remaining two.

But the performance of the hosts, who saved the opener in Bangalore and are eyeing a win in the second Test, prompted the selectors to name an unchanged squad.

“The selectors met after the day’s game here and decided to field an unchanged squad for the Tests in New Delhi and Nagpur,” a Punjab Cricket Association official said.

Anil Kumble, who missed the Mohali Test because of a shoulder injury, was named as skipper, putting to rest doubts on his availability for the third Test beginning in New Delhi on October 29.

A fit Kumble will pose a selection headache for the Delhi match after his replacement Amit Mishra impressed in the Mohali game, picking five wickets on debut and setting the stage for an Indian victory.

Former captain Sourav Ganguly, set to retire after the four-Test series, also retained his place in the squad after fine performances with the bat, highlighted by his 102-run knock in the first innings here.

The New Delhi Test will be played from October 29-Nov 2 while the Nagpur Test will begin from November 6.

Indian squad for last two Tests:

Anil Kumble (capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Venkatsai Laxman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Munaf Patel, Rudra Pratap Singh, Subramaniam Badrinath, Amit Mishra.

Why? firstly the weather doesn’t look great, but most of all I think the pitch is going to prevent a result. The last match to be played here was in Dec 2007, a match where India made 626 in the first innings, and Pakistan replied with 537.

The match was eventually drawn.

If you don’t believe me at least do this: Back the draw now, you can get 2.6 in some places. If you can’t trade out at 1.40 or lower at the end of the third day, I will eat my hat.

Beleive me, whoever wins the draw is going to make a big score, and the team batting second will also make a big score. that will take us past the third day. The draw will be around 1.40 and you can trade out for a profit.

In the Testmatches, we had a 100% record. In the ODI’s we had a small hiccup mid stream, but then finished strongly, to show a profit over the series.

Anyway to the match at hand, I am going to be a bit controversial. Yes I know that England just got whipped in the Test series (we won, so who cares!), and I know that South Africa are No 2 in the ODI rankings, but I am plumping for England.

Why? because they have an insipational new captian. Yes I know some people are questioning the appointment, but I couldn’t be more pleased.

I think England are going to beat a SouthAfrica side, who after winning a Test series in England for the first time, are probably already thinking about the comforts of home.

It’s England for me.

We had a 100% record in this series, but that doesn’t always happen. However the important thing is that we always finish the series in profit.

Despite the two England victories, I think Newzealand can edge it on thier home ground.

England’s form has been dismal in this format of the game, and I don’t see why it should improve in this series, against a New Zealnd side that is renouned for thier fielding. In Daniel Vettori the New Zealanders have a world calss spinner, who can also be frugal with the runs when the need arises.

Expect a NewZealnd victory.

This has increased our profits in what has already been an outstanding year.

So in this match we are goping to adopt the same strategy as the last.

If Australia bat first, we back them, else no bet.

Note that if Australia win this, I will not be making a selection for the next game, as it will be too unpredicatable.

So do we employ the same tactics here? I think not. Australia very rarley lose two ODI matches in a row, and I am not going to start backing on them doing that now.

So if Austalia bat first we have a bet, if they don’t we keep our cash in our pockets.

I would suggest you still watch the game, as it should give us some good clues to the next few games.

Ok so when you have a winning formula, why change it? I did say it was going to be hard to chase down a total, and so far I have been proved right!

So today, let’s employ the same tactics again.

We will wait for the toss, and then back whoever decides to bat first.

It may seem a simple strategy, and it is certainly not the only criteria we use in this system , but it has paid dividends so far, so let’s stick with it.
